VERDICT

We have a soft spot for V-MODA headphones. They aren’t just another fashion-oriented brand with no substance behind it. V-MODA creates outstanding headphones that never fail to impress with their sound quality, build, futuristic design, and great attention to details. Given their cost, the V-MODA M-80 seem like a perfect way how to experience what this innovative brand is all about. Just make sure to have a high-quality audio source ready, and you’ll be satisfied with your purchase.

The V-MODA Crossfade M-80 on-ear headphones may look like a piece of futuristic battle gear, but their sound is much more pleasant than your average battle. V-MODA headphones have always been for people who like to stand out in a crowd. They are also for people who demand fantastic sound quality and refuse to make any compromises regarding durability or comfort. Together, these characteristics have helped the company become one of the most recognized brands on the market, and the M-80 clearly show that they have plenty more tricks up their sleeves.

Build and Design

There’s so much to like about the V-MODA M-80 that we’re not sure where to start. How about the customizable metal shields, which are available in more than 10 colors, allowing you to come up with a unique color combination that reflects your style and personality. You can even have V-MODE laser-engrave a design or your logo on the shield to tell everyone around you to which esports clan you belong.

Moving on to the construction of the headphones, the first thing that surprised us was how small the earcups were. People with larger heads might find it difficult to achieve a good fit, but nobody from our team experienced any issues. V-MODE tested the M-80 for durability using military-level MIL-STD-810 quality standards. Apparently, the cable should survive over million bends, the headphones should withstand up to 60 drops from 1.5m onto concrete, and the SteelFlex headband should return to its original shape even after 10 flat bands—pretty impressive.

Sound Quality

Just look at these headphones. Even without hearing how they sound, we could still confidently say that the sound will be all about powerful bass. And guess what—that’s exactly correct. The M-Class 40mm Dual-Diaphragm Drivers with <2dB variance for strict sound consistency have a frequency response from 5 Hz to 30 kHz and outstanding sensitivity of 105dB.

Not only do these headphones look good on paper, but they also sound amazing in real life. Bass takes the lead, but mids and high are no pushovers either. Mids confidently reproduce all vocals as if you were standing right in front of the singer. This intimate sensation is heightened by the equally intimate, yet detailed, soundstage.

The M-80 use a special ventilation technology, which feeds air into the earcups but minimizes the amount of outside noise that reaches your ears. Coupled with the fantastic pouch, the V-MODA Crossfade M-80 are fantastic portable headphones destined to make your daily commute more fun, your study sessions more interesting, and your work more bearable.
