VERDICT

If you want Sennheiser’s signature sound in a highly portable package, the PX210BT are your clear choice. Long-term customers and fans of Sennheiser will feel right at home and instantly recognize the excellent build quality that makes headphones with the stylized “S” such a good choice.

Given the vast amount of expertise and industry knowledge that Sennheiser has, it would be foolish for them not to take a stab at the Bluetooth market. After all, they are widely considered as the manufacturer of world’s best headphones, the Sennheiser Orpheus. The PX210BT are a much more modest pair of headphones than the Orpheus, and they have more in common with the Sennheiser PX 100-II. Let’s find out how well Sennheiser manages to enter the Bluetooth market.

Design and Build Quality

Given the fact that Sennheiser covers the headphones with a 2-year international warranty, we are led to believe that they are pretty confident in their durability and overall build quality. To be perfectly honest, we can’t say that we felt the same confidence when we first saw these headphones. Sennheiser uses primarily plastic materials that may seem rather flimsy. But that feeling lasts only until you realize that the type of plastic material used by Sennheiser cannot be compared to a random pair of sub-$20 headphones. It’s tough, durable, and highly impact resistant, making it perfect for portable use.

The adjustable headband is reinforced with a piece of metal, and a pair of sturdy hinges allow the headphones to fold flat for transport and storage. The control hub is located on the right earcup, and it won’t take a long time before you memorize it.

However, probably the best thing about the Sennheiser Bluetooth headphones is the removable battery. The ability to replace the battery with a new greatly extends the lifespan of these headphones from just a few years at best to as long as you are willing to keep replacing it with a new one.

Sound Quality

The main component is a pair of neodymium magnets and duofol diaphragms. They are designed for excellent sound reproduction and support the apt-X audio compression technique for true hi-fi quality over Bluetooth. You will be able to keep your smartphone safely stored inside a backpack or your gym bag, because the Bluetooth transmitter has a range of up to 33 feet.

The sound is rich, clear, and well-defined. It’s the characteristic mix of boomy lows and crisp highs that Sennheiser has mastered over the years. The only limitation you will encounter is the lower volume when using the included audio cable. The best way to solve this issue is to purchase an inexpensive headphone amplifier.

What’s in the Box

The box hides an audio cable (2.5mm to 3.5mm jack plug), multi-country charger, USB charging cable, rechargeable Lithium Polymer battery, carrying case.
