VERDICT

The Sennheiser PX 100-II are an absolute hit, and we understand why. They offer a fantastic value for your money and sound that can bring a smile to your face. While their design might seem slightly dated, it still remains highly functional and reliable. Since they are so popular, you will have no problem finding them in your local store. This gives you the perfect opportunity to try them out and see for yourself just what exactly it is that people like about these on-ear headphones.

The Sennheiser PX 100-II are highly recommended headphones that offer in impressive sound quality despite the fact that they don’t look like much. They feel most at home at the gym, where their powerful bass gets the opportunity to truly shine. They are a prime example of a pair of budget on-ear headphones that accomplish a lot with relatively little.

Design and build

These headphones are a great example that big sound can come in a small package. Their open, on-ear cups provide natural sound that doesn’t fail to impress. Sennheiser’s fold n’ flip collapsible design folds the headphones down to about the size of a pair of eyeglasses for easy storage and portability.

Despite the small size, the Sennheiser PX 100-II are quite robust. The steel-reinforced headband is very durable, but also comfortable, thanks to its padding and adjustability. These headphones can easily accommodate everyone from kids to adults with large heads. Unfortunately, the larger your head, the higher clamping force will be applied on your ears. This can be an issues since the clamping force is already on the higher side even for people with average heads.

The single-sided cable is highly resistant to tangling and includes integrated volume control. There are absolutely no microphonics even when running.

Sound quality

The PX 100-II deserve a special praise for their patented DuoFol drivers, which offer a fantastic audio quality with a wide frequency response. The soundstage is very large and airy; much more than what you get with regular on-ear headphones.

The bass quality and quantity is probably the best in the class. We would dare you not to move your head to the rhythm of your music. These headphones have a unique ability to pump energy through your veins and get your whole body moving. Pair that with the similarly great mids and highs, and you have a recipe for an excellent pair of the gym and sports headphones.

If there is anything at all that could be disliked about the sound of the Sennheiser PX 100-II On-Ear Mini Headphones, it can be quickly fixed with an EQ.

What is in the box?

Despite the low price, Sennheiser still managed to include a useful carrying pouch for daily storage purposes and travel. The pouch doesn’t provide much in terms of protection, but it’s still great to see it included.
