VERDICT

The PLAY X STORE Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds turned out to be a nice surprise from a company known primarily for their budget-oriented products. The extensive set of accessories give you plenty of options how to make the earbuds fit just right, and the battery life is long enough to get you through an entire week of working out and enjoying various sports.

PLAY X STORE is one of those brands that sell relatively cheap OEM products repackaged with their own branding and a few minor touch ups. That’s not inherently a bad thing, depending on the quality of the OEM product they select. This time, we are taking a look at the PLAY X STORE Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds to discover the truth behind their marketing.

Design and build quality

Three main things stand out with these earbuds: their fit, battery life, and the overall construction. Let’s take a closer look at each of them, starting from the construction. The rubberized housing makes the earbuds very easy to hold even if your hands are wet, and the large selection of earwings and eartips ensures that you’ll be always able to pick just the right combination to ensure maximum comfort.

After a bad experience with some other earbuds from PLAY X STORE, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that the battery life holds up to marketing claims. Charging is also fast and doesn’t take much more than 1 hour.

The earbuds are just the right length not to stick out too far out, which could cause them to eventually fall out. Overall, a very solid product that can easily compete with more expensive earbuds from other manufacturers.

Sound quality

After some time of fiddling around trying to properly fit these earbuds into our ears, we managed to find the right combination of replaceable eartips and earhooks to start our sound testing. Despite being prepared for the worst, the earbuds actually sounded quite decent.

The PLAY X STORE Stereo Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds use the APT-X signal compression codec, which makes the quality of the wireless signal virtually indistinguishable from wired headphones. Lows, mids, and highs are all well-balanced and neither frequency range doesn’t outshine any other. Highs lack that sparkly end at the very top, but that’s not something you should be worried about (after all, there’s plenty of other problems to worry about with these earphones).

The only major problem when it comes to the sound of these earbuds is the low maximum volume. This issue will depend on your audio source and choice of music, but we have found the PLAY X STORE Wireless Bluetooth 4.0 Sports earbuds about 30 percent quieter than we would like. Because the headphones are wireless, you cannot use them with external headphone amplifier as you could a wired pair.

What’s in the box?

Accessories packed with these earbuds are reasonable extensive, containing three pairs of releasable eartips and earhooks. PLAY X STORE also threw in a small, soft bag for storage and a USB cable for charging.
