VERDICT
Photive PH-BTE50 are a very pleasant surprise and a great deal considering their price. If you are looking for a good pair of earbuds with excellent sound quality and ergonomic construction – PH-BTE50 are an outstanding choice.
The market for sports oriented headphones is huge with many companies competing for customers. Many fail and only few manage to succeed. The updated model from 2015 of Photive PH-BTE50 Bluetooth headphones is one of those few that are really worth looking into.
Build for sports
Photive PH-BTE50 are made for sports and people with active lifestyle. Their ergonomic, wireless design that is both compact and lightweight ensures that they stay out of your way no matter if you are in your gym, hiking, or maybe riding a bike or playing tennis.
Because of their low weight of just 16.4 grams, you will barely even know you have them on.
Sound quality
The earbuds use Bluetooth 4.0 with CSR aptX audio technology to deliver a great audio quality over Bluetooth connection. How much does the aptX technology actually contribute to the final audio quality is debatable, but the fact is that these earbuds sound pretty damn good.
They have a nice deep bass while preserving a clarity and precision when it comes to higher frequencies. This makes them work exceptionally well with Hip-Hop or EDM.
Battery and controls
Photive PH-BTE50 run on a built-in rechargeable lithium polymer battery that is able to give you about 8 hours of playtime and 300 hours of standby time.
You can charge them with the included micro USB cable. A huge advantage this brings is that it is possible to use not only your laptop but also many modern mobile phones to charge these earbuds. All you need is a micro USB to micro USB cable and you are all set.
Another convent feature of these earbuds is their built-in controls that let you control your music or even accept phone calls without ever reaching down your pocket to get your phone or mp3 player. You can change the volume, play or pause directly from one earbud.
The only downside being that these buttons can be a little hard to press and may require that you hold the earbud down to prevent it from falling down from your ear.
Photive PH-BTE50 Accessories
Photive PH-BTE50 was not cheap when it comes to accessories. Aside from earbuds, you also get the previously mentioned micro USB cable, ear stabilizers, extra ear tips, carrying pouch and user guide with instructions, specifications, and tips. It would be nice to see a few different sizes of ear tips for those of us with smaller ears.
