VERDICT

The Parasom A1 get two thumbs up from us. They deliver an outstanding value thanks to their affordable price, above-average build quality, and surprisingly balanced sound signature. Just make sure to check the volume before you start listening—you don’t want them to blow your brains out.

What makes earbuds good for running? Let’s see: sweat-resistance, durability, energetic bass, reliable wireless connection, and excellent fit, just to name a few. It’s really not that difficult to find a pair of wireless earbuds that meets all of these criteria, but it can be exhausting to find a pair that meets the criteria and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg at the same time. Luckily for you, we know one such pair of earbuds, the Parasom A1.

Design and Build

From the black and red color combination to the engraved logo on the back of the housing to the general shape, the Parasom A1 are clearly inspired by Beats earbuds. Fortunately, Parasom has steered clear of downright copying, giving the earbuds their own flavor.

The housing is made of aluminum, and there is a magnet on the back of each earbud, which allows you to clamp the earbuds together and carry them securely around your neck. The in-line music playback control module has three buttons for pairing and playback control as well as a charging port and a status LED. The entire assembly is sweatproof and feels durable.

The earbuds are supposed to last up to 5 hours on a single charge, and we’ve been able to confirm this figure during our testing. You can also expect up to 100 hours of standby time and 2 hours to charge the earbuds from 0 to 100 percent.

Sound Quality

We must start this section with a warning: Don’t use these earbuds at the maximum volume setting! Typically, we max out the volume on most Bluetooth earbuds when using them outside. With the Parasom A1, we got to around 30 percent and couldn’t go any further—they’re just so damn loud! Indeed, these are, by far, the loudest Bluetooth earbuds we’ve ever tested. We just wish there was some kind of protection to prevent them from starting at the maximum volume setting.

One thing that contributes to their loudness is their ability to block plenty of outside noise. No, they don’t feature an active noise cancelling system, but they really don’t need to. The high level of passive noise isolation coupled with the seemingly infinite loudness is enough.

What really took us by surprise during our testing was how neutral the sound was compared to most other earbuds in this category and price range. The Parasom A1 may resemble Beats earbuds, but they certainly don’t have the iconic Beats sound signature, which is something that many will surely appreciate. Leaning on the neutral side, the earbuds are suitable for more music genres and respond better to software tweaking.

What’s in the Box?

When you open the box, you’ll find a hard-shell carrying case. Inside the case will be Parasom A1 earbuds, three pairs of earwings, a pair of earhooks, a microUSB cable for charging, and four different sets of eartips.
