VERDICT

Just like with all headphones from MEE Audio, one must come prepared knowing their sound signature is vastly different from many other sports-oriented headphones on the market. Some love it, some dislike it, and those who enjoying tinkering with software EQs probably don’t care at all. But besides the unique sound, the M7P are fantastic sports headphones that stand out from the crowd thanks to the self-adjusting nozzle and removable cable with the volume slider.

The MEE Audio M7P in-ear headphones have all the hallmarks of MEE headphones. They are affordable, flexible, attractive, feature-packed, and well built. But the question is whether they can compete with all those other sports-oriented headphones on the market, especially the latest generation of wireless headphones from China. Can old-school wired headphones surpass Bluetooth headphones in terms of comfort and fit? The answer might surprise you.

Build and Design

It takes just one look to know that the MEE Audio M7P are designed for active people. All colors—black, blue, red, and green—are equally stylish and convenient to use, as each earphone has a different color, making it easy to distinguish which is supposed to go into which ear.

The headphones feature MEE Audio’s Liquipel nano-coating for IPX5 sweat and water protection. This coating is essentially an invisible protective film that keeps moisture away from the sensitive components inside. It doesn’t make the headphones fully waterproof, but it helps them survive an occasional splash of water and long, sweaty gym sessions. MEE Audio is so confident in the headphone’s ability to withstand heavy use that they offer 1-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Aside from durability, the other thing that either makes or breaks sports headphones is comfort, which is why Bluetooth headphones have become so popular over the years. The absence of a cable means there’s nothing that could break, make annoying noises, tug on your ears, and generally cause all sorts of problems. Of course, it also means that your listening will be limited by the size of the battery in your headphones and that small MP3 audio players without Bluetooth are useless.

MEE Audio solved this dilemma by making the cable on the M7P headphones removable and useful. It’s designed for comfortable over-the-ear fit and features a volume slider and a one-button remote controller. The slider allows you to adjust the playback volume from 0 to 100 much quicker than you could using buttons.

But by far the most significant innovation is the moving eartip nozzle that automatically adjusts its position to fit your ears. The nozzle is mounted on a ball-joint and swivels in all directions. Not only does it allow you to achieve a better seal, but it also makes it possible to find the optimal position for comfortable, personalized fit of the entire earbud—not just the eartip.

Sound Quality

Headphones from MEE Audio are known for their unique sound signature that’s vastly different from the often exaggerated, bass-heavy sound we get from most sports-oriented headphones on the market. According to the company, it’s the music itself that should push you forward—not just the thumping bass. And it’s difficult to really enjoy music the way it was intended to be enjoyed when you can’t hear it clearly.

The 8mm moving-coil dynamic driver in the M7P headphones has been expertly tuned to deliver excellent tonal balance and detailed sound. Indeed, these headphones will make all audiophiles who are used to precision and clarity smile. Everyone else can either learn to embrace MEE’s approach or tweak the sound signature using a software EQ.

What’s in the Box?

The manufacturer has included a hard-shell carrying case, 4 pairs of dual-density silicone eartips, a shirt clip, and an instructional manual.
