VERDICT

The JAM Transit HX-HP420 do what they promise to do: give customers good sound quality in a compact package suitable for daily listening on the go. Their price is set reasonably low, and their appearance should please even fashion-oriented customers. Just keep in mind that things can get a little uncomfortable after a few hours of listening. So, you might want to switch to your in-ear or over-the-ear headphones ones you actually arrive to work or back home.

The JAM Transit HX-HP420 Bluetooth Headphones are simple on-ear headphones that come in 4 different colors and promise a good value for the money. The integrated speakerphone for hands-free talking makes them a great choice for commuting to and from work or school. The headphones have received great reviews from many independent reviewers and even the general public.

Design and Build Quality

In our opinion, more manufacturers shouldn’t be afraid to go with a simple design like this one. So many companies are producing flashy headphones that appeal only to a limited number of people. The HX-HP420 have a timeless design that is guaranteed to look great even in the future.

The headphones appear to be well-made, and all important parts are durable and nicely finished. JAM includes a protective pouch with these headphones, which does a great job of protecting the headphones against scratches and other forms of minor damage.

On-ear headphones are universally known for being less comfortable than over-the-ear headphones, and the JAM Transit are no different. The ear cushions start to get very uncomfortable after a few hours of uninterrupted listening. A 5-minute break is long enough for your ears to recover, but we would still advise you to get a different model for prolonged use.

However, if you would still insist on using these Bluetooth headphones for everything, the large rechargeable battery that lasts up to 11 hours would certainly allow it. It takes about 2.5 hours to charge it to maximum capacity using the included USB cable and any standard 5V USB wall charger.

Sound Quality

Connecting these headphones to your smartphone or tablet is a hassle-free experience. Their Bluetooth signal is so strong that you can be up to 30 feet away and still enjoy your music without stutters and loss of sound quality. Unfortunately, Bluetooth is the only way how you can connect these headphones; there’s no aux port.

Other than this, the actual audio quality is very good. The headphones block a fair bit of outside noise, letting you enjoy every little detail. Mids, highs, and lows are all well-balanced, but no part of the frequency spectrum stands out.

What’s in the Box

Included in the box is a soft pouch for protection and a USB cable for charging. You can use the cable with standard USB wall charger you find lying at home.
