VERDICT

There is no denying that HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset succeeds at everything it sets out to do. This headset is the perfect package for those gamers who don’t want to spend too much time tinkering with stuff in order to maximize their gaming time. The included USB audio card takes care of everything for you and the TeamSpeak certified microphone ensures that your teammates will know exactly what needs to be done to secure another victory on the virtual battlefield.

The HyperX Cloud II Headset promises to be the all-in-one solution for all enthusiastic games out there. The package doesn’t include just the headphones themselves, but also a USB audio control box with built-in DSP sound card for the highest sound quality no matter which device you play on.

Design and build

The HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset comes with 100% memory foam ear pads that are interchangeable allowing for different sound signatures with just a single pair of headphones. The overall style is much more minimalistic than what you usually see on other gaming headphones, but it still retains a certain playfulness to it. All material all high-quality and the finishing is absolutely superb. We have to give these headphones a full score for their excellent build.

Accessories and features are another two categories where these headphones really shine above their competition. The included USB 7.1 sound card includes microphone and volume controls and DSP audio amplification for the best listening experience possible. It’s especially useful in situations where you are left with a low-quality built-in card and want something better. The HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset also comes with a detachable high-quality microphone with AGC functionality and echo cancelation. It offers a very faithful sound reproduction and is certified for use with TeamSpeak.

Sound quality

We have tested this headset both with the included USB sound card and without it using our high-quality DAC. The sound card held up really nice compared to our audiophile-grade DAC and is definitely a few levels above a regular built-in sound card that you would find in your regular gaming laptop or PC.

The headset itself sound unsurprisingly great and can be recommended not only for gaming but also for music and movies. It offers a very nice amount of passive noise cancelation that makes you appreciate all details that this headset is capable of reproducing. It’s more balanced than other gaming headsets that are currently available on the market, but it still retains that fun sound signature that makes gaming a thrilling experience.

What is in the box?

This headset comes with a very large assortment of different accessories including an airplane adapter, two pairs of ear cushions (one made out of synthetic leather and one made out of velour), the detachable microphone, and, finally, the USB sound card.
