VERDICT

Cambridge Soundworks know how to make a great pair of Bluetooth earbuds. Their product stands out with its lightweight, modern design, and fantastic bass reproduction. These would be excellent for all active people who often find themselves in situations where the IPX4 waterproofing might come useful or when they need that extra boost of energy that only well-reproduced music can provide.

More regular readers will know that an unknown brand doesn’t necessarily equate to poor quality. The Cambridge Soundworks earbuds are certainly not the most widely known earbuds in the world, but you might be surprised to find out just how compelling set of features they offer.

Design and build quality

Simplicity is the name of the game with the Cambridge Soundworks OontZ BudZ Sport Bluetooth Earbuds. The earbuds weight just 17 grams, which means that your ears never get tired and that you don’t experience that disturbing tugging that you might be familiar with from many heavier headphones that are currently available.

The sweat-proof IPX4 design makes it possible to wear these even when it’s raining outside, but you can’t swim with them. The only headphones that can be submerged in water are those rated IPX7.

Present are also music playback controls. They feature a very familiar 3-button layout and have multiple purposes depending on how long you hold them. You will quickly figure everything out even without the provided manual.

The built-in 120 mAh battery lasts for up to 6 hours of music playtime and can be charged in under 2 hours. This means that it should comfortably get you through the entire week of exercise.

Sound quality

If you are into rich, powerful bass sound then you will love these earbuds. Hard-hitting drum and bass songs can sound downright amazing, and the OontZ still manage to preserve plenty of details and clarity. Other genres like rock, classic rock, metal also sound great.

The included noise reducing eartips do a very good job when it comes to silencing the ambient noise and allowing you to focus solely on the task in front of you. One thing to keep in mind is to always double check that you’ve managed to achieve a great seal. It plays a vital role in the overall sound quality, and the better seal you get the more enjoyable the bass will be.

Overall, we can say that the sound should suit the vast majority of people who are looking for a way how to make their gym sessions a bit more enjoyable.

What’s in the box?
