VERDICT

These Bluetooth earbuds are a perfect example of how experimenting with unusual design directions can lead to something great. No, they are not as versatile as regular earbuds, but that’s not always a bad thing. If you spend plenty of time cycling and would and would like to enjoy some music while doing so, the Ardor ZEALOT are definitely a worthy contester.

We don’t see too many Bluetooth neckbands with integrated earbuds for comfortable gym listening. Most manufacturers probably think that customers would find this unusual form-factor would put off too many customers to make a profit. Ardor, the manufacturer of these stylish earbuds, thinks otherwise and we are very glad for it.

Design and Build Quality

You don’t see too many neckband-style headphones on the market. Why? Because many customers probably assume that this style of headphones is unfit for general fitness use. However, this couldn’t be further from true. Neckband-style headphones allow you to insert and remove the headphones from your ears and let them easily rest on your neck whenever you see fit.

This way, you can ride your bike with just one eartip inserted without worrying that the earbuds will fall down. The ZEALOT H1 are particularly supportive of this kind of use because of their ultra-light weight and integrated phone call and music playback control buttons.

It’s also worth mentioning that the Bluetooth earbuds are available in either black or white color. The white version looks very futuristic, and both are made out of high-quality plastic materials with scratch-resistant finishing.

Sound Quality

Thanks to the built-in Bluetooth 4.0 technology, the ZEALOT H1 work with virtually any Bluetooth-enabled device (smartphones, tablets, PCs) and boast a very low power consumption. It takes more than 6 hours to go from a completely charged battery to dead earbuds. Charging back to maximum capacity can be accomplished in less than 2 hours.

As far as the sound quality goes, you can expect a well-balanced mix of tonal clarity of powerful delivery suitable for gym use. Bass is plentiful and presented in precisely timed bursts that never bleed into the rest of the frequency spectrum. Mids are placed forward just ever so slightly to make vocals stand out and immerse you into all complex lyrical passages you encounter during your workout. Highs lack the very top end that so many audiophile-grade headphones are earbuds strive to perfect, but they still do a satisfactory job of representing detailed characteristics of all instruments in the song.

Noise isolation is acceptable, and you can always change the included silicone eartips for foam ones to improve it.

What’s in the Box?

When you purchase the Ardon ZEALOT H1 Sports Neckband, you receive the ZEALOT wireless earphones, a micro USB charging cable, 4 sets of replaceable eartips, and a user manual.
