VERDICT

The Monster NTUNE On-Ear Headphones are clearly made for modern music genres such hip-hop, dance, and club music. Their overly boomy nature makes music exciting, gaming thrilling, and analytical listening impossible. If this sound like something that might be right up your alley, then we assure you that you will be very happy with your purchase.

New generations put a different set of demands and consumer expectations about what exactly constitutes a good sound quality. The Monster NTUNE On-Ear Headphones were designed specifically to meet this demand and work well with bass-heavy music genres. With a very large number of color to choose from, customers have a lot to look forward to. Let’s see how these headphones do when we put them to a test.

Design and build

These headphones will be love by people who pay attention to style and matching accessories with their clothes. Amazon lists 21 different colors and color combinations to choose from. All versions are made from a shiny plastic with sublet color accents. The overall design looks very fresh and youthful.

Earcups on these headphones look similar to aluminum car wheels, and they come with a detachable cable that connects to the left earpiece. The cable ends with a 90-degree connector on one end and a regular straight one on the other. We like the quality of the cable and Monster’s inclusion of microphonics-resistant cable shielding. There is also a built-in in-line remote controller that can be used to control music playback and answer or end phone calls.

The on-ear cushions are comfortable, don’t get too warm and isolate well from the surrounding environment. There are slightly on the bulky side, but that’s really the only negative we could come up with.

Sound quality

We’ve already mentioned that these headphones are designed for modern music genres that emphasize the rhythm and bass. If you enjoy that kind of music, you are in for a big treat. The bass is very dynamic, extends unbelievably low, and there’s enough power behind it to make your head shake and your feet tap.

The built-in in-line microphone provides with an equally good sound quality, with no distortion to speak of. It even automatically adjusts its volume levels based on how close or far away it’s from your mouth.

The Monster NTUNE On-Ear headphones are great for the gym or daily commuting. They stay securely on the head, and their passive sound isolation is way above what you would normally get from a regular pair of on-ear headphones. The lack of sound balance is easily excused, considering their main target audience. After all, there’s always the possibility to adjust how they sound using the equalizer built into your audio player.

What is in the box?

These headphones come with a detachable cable, some promotional materials, an NCredible sticker, and a black microfiber polishing cloth. Unfortunately, Monster decided not to include any case, not even a simple fabric pouch.
